Creating
a Planogram
Creating a planogram is so simple
anyone can do it. It's as simple as 1-2-3. That's 1-
define the display dimensions, 2-add shelves, 3-add
products to the plan.
Step 1.
Define the Display
When you start a new planogram, you can use our plan
wizard or the Display Setup Dialog, which is shown below and
lets you define the planogram.

You can enter the type of
planogram, it's length and height and the peg or slat spacing.
You can define up to 15 sections of varying width. Here we have
an 8 foot planogram divided in to two 48 inch sections.
This is the resulting empty
planogram created from the information entered above.

Our 8 foot long plan is
divided in two 4 foot sections. On the right is a window with a
list of all products in your database. You can display this list
by UPC Code, Item Name, Description and others. This list can be
filtered by any field so a smaller number of products will
appear in the list, making it easy to select products in a large
database.
Step 2. Add
Shelves
The
next step if to add shelves to your plan. This is,
assuming you will have shelves.

The above window
lets you add one or more shelves to a section of the
plan. The shelf height is the space allotted for
merchandise. Here we are adding 3 shelves to section
one, each with a height of 18 inches. This is the
plan after we OK the above window and add the 3
shelves.

Step 3.
Add Products to the Plan
A this point, we
can add products to the plan. Just click on any
product in the list and drag it onto the plan where
you want it to go. Our Snap-To feature will snap the
product down onto the shelf as you get close to it.
Our Smart Shelf
TM technology will snap product faces
together for closest fit, so you can create accurate
planograms without having to be expert with the
mouse.

We've added three products to the plan. We can also use the
Next Location feature, which automatically adds a products
to the next available space on a shelf just by double-clicking
on the product in the list. There are a number of other
shortcuts to quickly adding products to your plan. You can even
fill an entire planogram with products with a single mouse click
using our RIP Processor
TM.
The Shelf Logic Database
Shelf Logic uses an Access 2000 database to store
your product information. You don't need to have or know
anything about Access. All product information can be imported
from Excel or you can enter it directly into Shelf Logic, or
link directly to Access 2000 if you have it.
Here's the Item Maintenance window, which shows all
product information in the database.

The are
3 USER fields and most field labels can be changed to customize
your information. At the bottom is the Image Name field which
has the image path and name. It's picture is displayed at the
top of the window.
Reporting
There are a variety of built-in
reports to help you visualize and analyze your plan.
You can print the standard planogram reports which
consist of a photo representation of your plan, and
the schematic printing of all items with their name
and a Key
Number that
identifies the product. A companion Product
Listing Report is
printed that shows you the product for each Key
Number on the plan.

Here we see the printed schematic
and photo planogram.

This is the Product Listing Report
which tells you the product for each Key Number.

This is the Space Analysis Report
which tells you the amount of space occupied by each
product and the percentage of total.

This is the Financial Analysis
Report, which gives you the profit picture of the
Planogram, broken down and subtotaled by category.
A Custom Report Writer is available for the Master

reports. The Report Writer comes with all of the
